OBI offers $50,000 to jump-start your neurotech start-up

2017 ONtrepreneurs Poster.JPGThe Ontario Brain Institute's (OBI) unique ONtrepreneurs (Ontario Neurotech Entrepreneurs) Program offers up to 10 early-stage entrepreneurs the opportunity to build a start-up company and develop a technology applicable to brain disorders or brain health:

  • $50,000 in funding over one year
  • Mentorship from experts in the field
  • Training to develop business skills

Meet: Ying Chen, ONDRI Scholar

Ying Chen.jpgI’m a postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University working with Dr. Doug Munoz and one of three ONDRI Scholars.

Why did you choose your profession?

How our brain is functioning as the control centre of our whole body, and how damage in a patients’ brain is affecting their normal activity are always kept in my mind. I know research is the only way to provide answers to these questions. It’s exciting for me to employ different research methods to study the brain. I enjoy each piece of new findings, and believe all the pieces together will gradually discover the function of our brain.


New name: Patient and Community Advisory Committee (PCAC)

PCAC.JPGONDRI's Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) recently changed their name to "Patient and Community Advisory Committee (PCAC)" to focus on patients and their community of support people.

The PCAC meets by monthly to discuss how to improve research into neurodegenerative diseases and engage in patient outreach.
