Derek Beaton wins Organization for Human Brain Mapping award

Derek Beaton.jpgCongratulations to Derek Beaton, ONDRI Scholar, for winning the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) 2017 Merit Award, which is awarded to the highest-scoring abstracts first-authored by trainees.

Derek's poster is about his research with ONDRI. His work focuses on multi-modal data and multivariate analyses (e.g., neuropsychological and neuroimaging data). With partial least squares, he can show subgroups within vascular cognitive impairment with preserved aspects of cognition. For example one subgroup has preserved executive processes in the presence of high levels of ventricular CSF, where this subgroup is comprised of bi- and multi-lingual individuals.
