Meet: Christopher Scott, Imaging Analyst

Chris Scott.jpgWhat’s your role with ONDRI?

I'm an Imaging Analyst and Senior Research Coordinator at Sunnybrook. In a nutshell, my role with ONDRI is to oversee “quality control” for all of the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) that’s acquired. I work closely with both the imaging and neuroinformatics teams to ensure that the highest quality data is being acquired and archived. Unfortunately, I’m also the bearer of bad news to a site when the quality is poor.

Meet: Dr. Andrew Frank, Recruiting Clinician

Andrew Frank - Copy_0.jpgWhat is you hope for ONDRI?

I look forward to the results of ONDRI and other research, so that we’ll be able to diagnose neurodegeneration early and accurately, with a collection of reliable biomarkers. Then, we’ll target effective therapies to those who will benefit the most. One day, I hope the suffering of Alzheimer's disease will be lifted.

Meet: Dr. Demetrios Sahlas, VCI Recruiting Clinician

Jim Sahlas 2.jpgHow are you promoting health?

One of my goals is to continuously promote vascular health. An effective initiative was the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Café Scientifique event that we held in June 2014 to talk about keeping your brain health as you grow older. I’d also like to create more awareness about dementia and one of the ways to do this is by highlighting celebrities that people can relate to – for instance, Robin Williams’ autopsy suggests in hindsight that he was likely suffering from Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB).
