Stephen Pasternak, MD, PhD., is an Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences, Western University and a Scientist, Robarts Research Institute. He obtained his MD and PhD. in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University and completed his neurology residency at the University of Toronto, postdoctoral training in cell biology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and fellowship training in cognitive neurology at the University of Toronto.
His laboratory at the Robarts Research Institute is focused on understanding the production of beta-amyloid, focusing on cell biology of the endosomal/lysosomal system, and on developing contrast agents to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease using non-invasive imaging. At his clinic in Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centre at the Parkwood Institute, he sees patients with neurodegenerative disease with an interest in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia.
