Sunnybrook Research Institute

Ms. Di Yu is a PhD student from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at University of Toronto, supervised by Dr. Swardfager. Her research interests lie in understanding the neurovascular disorders, specifically, how small vessel injuries contributes to cognitive decline and neurodegeneration and potential treatments for small vessel disease.

Ms. Yu is currently studying lipid biomarkers (oxylipins) that could identify small vessel disease related cognitive decline and white matter injuries across different neurodegenerations. The biomarkers she’s working on also implicate a new targetable pathway (CYP450-sEH) for managing small vessel disease.
